Rosa Delgado had cleaned the Carter home twice a week for three years.

Victoria reduced her hours after Sophie was born.

Daniel thought Rosa wanted fewer hours.

She did not.

Rosa told investigators:

“Mrs. Carter said Emma needed more responsibility.”

Rosa had seen Emma washing bottles.

Folding laundry.

Carrying the empty baby carrier before Sophie’s birth.

She once offered to help.

Victoria replied:

“Don’t undermine me.”

Rosa became uncomfortable.

Why not tell Daniel?

She feared losing work.

Again, another adult choosing silence for understandable reasons.

Rosa cried when she realized how much Emma had been doing.

Daniel did not blame her publicly.

Privately, he struggled.

Then remembered his own silence.

His own unread paperwork.

He had less moral distance than anger wanted.
