Part 2 👇
Michael didn't stop there.
He looked directly at Chloe and said, calmly and clearly, so every single person in that auditorium could hear:
"I also want to address the woman sitting in my mother's seat right now."
Chloe's smile vanished.
"Three weeks ago, I found the messages.
Every single one.
Sent to my father's boss.
The ones designed to make sure my mom lost her job the same year she was paying for my college applications."
A woman two rows back let out a sharp gasp.
My ex grabbed Chloe's arm.
She shook him off.
"That's not—" she started.
"I have the screenshots printed," Michael said.
"I brought copies."
He reached into the inside pocket of his graduation gown and pulled out a folded envelope.
The room was so quiet I could hear my own heartbeat from the back.
Chloe stood up.
Her chair scraped loud against the floor.
"You don't know what you're talking about," she snapped.
But her hands were shaking.
And then a woman in the third row slowly turned around and looked straight at Chloe.
I recognized her immediately.
She was my former supervisor.
