Rocco was already struggling with another violent leg spasm when Lucia quietly slid his medication beneath the cabinet and ordered the newly hired caretaker to ignore him.
June refused.
She left the broken breakfast dishes where they were, steadied Rocco's leg, and helped him slow his breathing even when he tried to push her away.
Then Grant entered.
Instead of helping, he pulled June away, shoved Rocco's wheelchair backward, and mocked him for no longer being the man who once controlled the Santoro family.
Rocco fought back from the chair.
Moments later, June reached beneath the medication cabinet and recovered the bottle Lucia had kicked away.
It was still nearly full.
Edwin froze.
Lucia immediately tried to take it from June.
That reaction told Rocco more than the bottle itself.
He had been told his worsening spasms were part of his recovery.
He had been told he was difficult, unstable, and sometimes refusing medication he barely remembered being offered.
But a nearly untouched bottle suggested something very different.
Why had Lucia been hiding medication from him while insisting his attacks were exaggerated?
Why did Grant turn violent the moment June actually helped?
How long had the people closest to Rocco been controlling what he received — and what everyone else saw?
Rocco finally rose beside his wheelchair.
The weakness everyone had been watching was real.
But someone had been making sure it stayed that way.
