The federal detention transfer was executed with military precision before dawn broke over Atlanta. St. Catherine’s Medical Center was quiet once more, save for the rhythmic beeping of monitors in the ICU and the soft, healthy wails of the triplets echoing down the infant care nursery.

Mason sat in a high-backed leather chair beside Claire’s hospital bed, holding her limp, warm hand in his. Her color was slowly returning, a subtle flush of pink replacing the ghostly pallor of the previous night. Dr. Bennett had confirmed an hour earlier that the heavy-duty antitoxin administered by the toxicology specialists had successfully neutralized the synthetic neurotoxin in her system. She was resting deeply, her body recovering from the dual trauma of childbirth and poisoning, but the doctors assured him she was out of immediate danger.

His phone buzzed on the bedside table. It was a secure dispatch from his security chief, confirming that federal agents had raided Julian Vance’s sprawling Buckhead estate at 4:00 AM, seizing physical servers, encrypted hard drives, and millions of dollars in untraceable bearer bonds.

Vance hadn't gone quietly. He had threatened lawsuits, screamed about executive immunity, and demanded to speak with high-powered defense attorneys before federal marshals slapped titanium cuffs on his wrists and hauled him out in his silk bathrobe.

Mason stared at the glowing screen, but his mind wasn't on corporate boardrooms anymore. It was anchored entirely to the steady rise and fall of Claire's chest.

A soft knock sounded at the heavy oak door of the private ICU suite. Mason didn't look up immediately. "Enter."

The door clicked open, and Chief Inspector Marcus Vance of the Atlanta Federal Bureau of Investigation stepped inside. He looked exhausted, dark circles bruised beneath his eyes, carrying a thick manila folder stamped with red confidential markings.

"Mr. Sloane," Marcus said respectfully, stopping a few paces from the bed. "I take it you're keeping watch."

"Always," Mason replied, his eyes never leaving his wife. "Did you secure Vance's personal archives?"

"Every single byte," Marcus said, laying the manila folder gently on the corner of the table. "Your cybersecurity team was right. Vanessa Vale wasn't acting as a rogue employee suffering from unrequited professional obsession. She was Vance's primary corporate asset inside Sloane Infrastructure for over four years. Every major bid we thought we won organically? Vance knew about it because Vanessa sold the data. And when Vance realized he couldn't beat you legally in the market, they pivoted to a physical elimination strategy."

Mason slowly turned his head, his dark eyes fixing on the federal investigator with a cold, terrifying clarity. "And the poison?"

"Sourced through a shell pharmaceutical lab in Zurich that Vance secretly funded," Marcus confirmed, flipping open the folder to reveal chemical purchase orders bearing Vanessa’s digital signature. "They planned it for months. The timing of the pregnancy was the ultimate vulnerability. They knew you would be distracted, emotional, and completely focused on the birth of your children. It was supposed to look like a tragic postpartum medical anomaly—a sudden, unexplainable heart failure that would leave you shattered, vulnerable, and easy to manipulate into stepping down from the company."

Mason rose slowly from his chair, careful not to let go of Claire’s hand until the last possible second. He walked over to the window, watching the first pale streaks of amber sunlight pierce the heavy storm clouds over the Atlanta skyline.

"They thought they could play God with my family," Mason whispered, his voice vibrating with controlled fury. "They thought my empire was just a collection of assets on a balance sheet."

"They're facing federal conspiracy, industrial espionage, and attempted assassination charges," Marcus said firmly. "With the digital paper trail Vanessa left behind and Vance's physical servers, neither of them will ever see the outside of a maximum-security federal penitentiary for the rest of their lives. They're finished, Mr. Sloane."

"Finished isn't enough," Mason replied quietly, turning back to face the investigator. "I want every single asset Julian Vance owns frozen, liquidated, and redistributed. I want his entire corporate empire dismantled brick by brick, just like he tried to do to my family. And I want it done before Claire wakes up."

Marcus held Mason's gaze for a long moment, recognizing the unstoppable force of a man who had been pushed past the absolute brink of human endurance. He nodded once. "Consider it in motion."

As the federal investigator slipped out of the room, leaving the heavy oak door clicking shut behind him, Mason returned to his seat beside Claire. He gently brought her knuckles to his lips, kissing them softly.

"You're safe now, my love," he murmured against her skin. "The storm is passing. But the real fight—rebuilding our world—starts today."
