Jack slowly turned toward his oldest friend.

“What is she talking about?”

Marcus forced a laugh.

“Jack, she’s a scared kid. She doesn’t know what she’s saying.”

But Emily shook her head.

“I remember him.”

Tears streamed down her cheeks.

“He came to see Mommy last month.”

Jack’s heart began pounding.

“What did he say?”

Emily looked at Marcus with pure terror.

“He told her she had one more week.”

Marcus’s jaw tightened.

Jack stepped closer.

“One more week for what?”

Marcus said nothing.

Emily continued.

“He said if Mommy didn’t give him the files, he would take me away.”

Jack slowly looked at Marcus.

“Files?”

Marcus raised both hands.

“Jack, listen. There’s an explanation.”

Jack moved closer.

“Then explain it.”

Marcus glanced at the other bikers standing near the entrance.

“Not here.”

Jack’s voice thundered.

“RIGHT HERE!”

Every Iron Wolf turned toward him.

Nobody had ever heard Jack speak to Marcus that way.

Marcus sighed.

“You don’t know the whole story.”

Jack pointed toward Emily.

“Then tell me why my daughter recognizes you.”

Marcus looked at the little girl.

His expression softened.

“Emily… your mother told you not to come here.”

Jack froze.

“You KNOW her?”

Marcus closed his eyes.

And in that moment, Jack knew.

Everything the stranger had said was true.

Marcus had lied.

For eleven years.

Jack grabbed his vest.

“WHERE IS MY WIFE?”

Marcus didn’t fight back.

Instead, he whispered:

“Jack… Sarah isn’t the woman you remember.”

Jack’s voice cracked.

“Don’t you dare talk about my wife.”

Marcus looked straight at him.

“She was working with federal investigators before the fire.”

Jack blinked.

“What?”

Marcus continued.

“She discovered something inside the Iron Wolves.”

Jack’s stomach dropped.

“What kind of something?”

Marcus glanced at the bikers behind him.

“Money laundering. Stolen military equipment. People who disappeared after asking questions.”

The room became painfully quiet.

One of the bikers stepped backward.

Another lowered his eyes.

Jack stared at Marcus.

“You’re telling me Sarah was investigating our club?”

Marcus nodded.

“She found evidence against people much higher up than you.”

Jack could barely speak.

“So somebody tried to kill her?”

Marcus lowered his head.

“Yes.”

Jack looked at Emily.

“And my daughter?”

Marcus hesitated.

“Sarah was supposed to disappear alone. But she refused to leave her baby.”

Jack felt his knees weaken.

Eleven years.

Eleven years of grief.

Eleven years of standing at a cemetery, talking to a gravestone.

And his best friend had known?

Jack’s voice became a whisper.

“You let me bury an empty coffin?”

Marcus shook his head.

“It wasn’t empty.”

Jack stared at him.

“What?”

Marcus swallowed.

“There really was a woman inside that house.”

Jack’s eyes widened.

“Who?”

Marcus looked away.

“That part was never supposed to come out.”

Before Jack could demand an answer, Emily grabbed his hand.

“Daddy?”

The word stopped him.

Daddy.

He had dreamed of hearing that word for eleven years.

He knelt beside her.

“Yes, sweetheart?”

Emily reached into her backpack again.

“My mommy told me something before she sent me away.”

Jack brushed a tear from her cheek.

“What did she tell you?”

Emily looked toward Marcus.

“She said if I found you, I had to give you this.”

She pulled out a tiny silver necklace.

Jack recognized it instantly.

It belonged to Sarah.

He had given it to her on their wedding day.

But attached to the necklace was a small metal key.

Jack turned it over.

Stamped into the metal were three numbers.

317.

Marcus saw the key.

And his face turned ghostly white.

“Jack,” he whispered.

“Give me that.”

Jack slowly stood.

“Why?”

Marcus’s breathing changed.

“Because you have no idea what that opens.”

Jack held the key tightly.

“Then tell me.”

Marcus took a step closer.

“That key doesn’t belong to Sarah.”

Jack stared at him.

“Then whose is it?”

Marcus looked toward the shattered window.

His voice dropped.

“It belongs to the man who ordered your family’s disappearance.”

Jack’s blood turned cold.

“Who is he?”

Marcus hesitated.

Then Emily spoke.

“I know his name.”

Everyone turned toward her.

The little girl swallowed.

“Mommy made me memorize it.”

Jack knelt again.

“Tell me, sweetheart.”

Emily looked directly into his eyes.

“His name is Robert Miller.”

Jack stopped breathing.

Miller.

His own last name.

He shook his head slowly.

“No… that’s impossible.”

Marcus closed his eyes.

Jack whispered:

“Robert Miller is my father.”

The same father who had supposedly died in a motorcycle accident twenty years earlier.

But Emily was already shaking her head.

“No, Daddy.”

She reached into her backpack one final time.

And handed Jack a recent photograph.

It showed an elderly man standing beside a black SUV.

Alive.

Smiling.

Wearing an Iron Wolves vest.

Jack stared at the image.

His entire body went cold.

Then Emily whispered the words that shattered his world.

“Mommy said Grandpa is coming for us tonight.”

At that exact moment, Marcus’s phone began ringing.

He looked down at the screen.

His hands started trembling.

Jack saw the caller’s name.

ROBERT MILLER.

Marcus slowly answered.

A familiar elderly voice came through the speaker.

“Marcus, I hear my son finally met his daughter.”

Jack stood motionless.

Then the voice continued.

“Good. Bring them both to me. And this time, don’t leave any witnesses.”

But before Marcus could respond, another voice sounded in the background.

A woman’s voice.

Weak.

Desperate.

A voice Jack would recognize anywhere.

“JACK! DON’T TRUST HIM! THE GIRL ISN’T—”

The call abruptly ended.

Jack stared at the phone.

Sarah was alive.

His father was alive.

And the final words his wife had tried to scream were still ringing in his ears.

“THE GIRL ISN’T—”

Isn’t what?

His daughter?

Safe?

Or something far more terrifying?

Jack slowly turned toward Emily.

The little girl was crying.

Then she whispered:

“Daddy… there’s one more thing Mommy told me never to tell you.”

And when she opened her mouth to reveal it…

Every motorcycle outside suddenly started its engine.

Someone had just given the Iron Wolves an order.

And for the first time in his life, Jack didn’t know which of his brothers would stand beside him…

Or which ones had come to kill him.

TO BE CONTINUED…
