The room turned toward Simone.

She stood beneath the crystal chandeliers wearing a wedding dress that no longer represented a beginning.

It represented a lie.

Darius looked at her.

“What does he mean?””

Simone looked down.

“I should have told you.””

Those words hurt more than anger.

Because they meant she had been hiding something.

Again.

Darius closed his eyes.

“How many more?””

Simone whispered:

“One.””

“One more secret?””

She nodded.

Nia looked at her.

“What is it?””

Simone took a breath.

“The reason Marcus trusted me.””

Darius stared.

“Because you helped him.””

“Yes.””

“But why you?””

Simone looked at Ava.

“Because of Ethan.””

The room became silent.

Darius’s expression changed.

“My brother?””

Simone nodded.

“Ethan knew my family.””

“How?””

“My father worked with him.””

Darius frowned.

“On what?””

Simone hesitated.

“The trust account.””

Nia looked shocked.

“You’re connected to the money too?””

Simone shook her head.

“No.””

She looked at Darius.

“I’m connected to the investigation.””

The truth slowly came out.

Years earlier, Ethan had discovered Marcus was manipulating family documents and financial records.

But he needed proof.

Simone’s father had access to those records.

“He asked my family for help,” Simone said.

Darius listened.

“And then?””

“Then Ethan disappeared.””

Nia whispered.

“Because Marcus found out.””

Simone nodded.

“He threatened everyone involved.””

Darius looked at Marcus.

“So you destroyed anyone who got close.””

Marcus said nothing.

Simone continued.

“When Marcus contacted me years later, he knew who I was.””

Darius looked at her.

“He knew about Ethan.””

“Yes.””

“He used that against you.””

“Yes.””

The honesty was painful.

“He told me if I didn’t help him, he would reveal things about my family.””

Darius looked away.

“And you believed him.””

“I was afraid.””

The same words.

But this time, they sounded different.

Because Simone wasn’t asking for forgiveness.

She was admitting guilt.

“I should have gone to you.””

“Yes.””

“I know.””

The answer was immediate.

Darius looked at her.

“I almost married someone who was helping destroy my family.””

Simone nodded.

“I know.””

Ava stepped forward.

“But you helped me.””

Everyone looked at her.

Simone’s eyes filled with tears.

“Yes.””

“You gave me the memory card.””

“Yes.””

“Why?””

Simone looked at the little girl.

“Because I realized I was becoming someone I hated.””

That answer stayed with everyone.

Marcus suddenly moved.

The security guard beside him grabbed his shoulder.

But Marcus smiled.

“You all think this is over?””

Darius looked at him.

“It is.””

“No.””

Marcus looked at Ava.

“You still don’t understand.””

Ava looked scared.

Darius immediately stepped closer.

“Don’t.””

Marcus ignored him.

“Your father tried to protect you.””

He looked at Ava.

“But he failed.””

Darius’s face hardened.

“Enough.””

Marcus continued.

“Because the truth always hurts.””

Nia stepped forward.

“Stop talking to her.””

Marcus smiled.

“Why?””

“Because she is a child.””

“No.””

His expression became dark.

“She is the reason all of this happened.””

Darius moved.

But before he reached him, Ava spoke.

“No.””

Everyone stopped.

Ava looked at Marcus.

“You’re wrong.””

The entire room went quiet.

Marcus looked surprised.

Ava’s voice shook.

“But you’re still wrong.””

She looked at Darius.

“My dad stayed.””

Then at Nia.

“My mom protected me.””

Then at Simone.

“And she helped me.””

Her eyes returned to Marcus.

“You only hurt people.””

For the first time, Marcus had no response.

The little girl had defeated him with the one thing he never understood.

Love.

Police sirens could be heard outside.

Guests turned.

Darius looked toward the doors.

Marcus’s expression changed.

“You called them?””

Simone nodded.

“Yes.””

Marcus looked at her.

“You betrayed me.””

Simone looked back.

“No.””

She glanced at Ava.

“I finally stopped betraying myself.””

The doors opened.

Officers entered.

The ballroom erupted.

Marcus was taken away.

But before leaving, he looked at Darius.

“You think you won.””

Darius watched him.

“I did.””

Marcus smiled faintly.

“Then ask yourself one thing.””

Darius said nothing.

Marcus looked at Ava.

“Why did Ethan leave the final message unfinished?””

The question followed him out.

Darius looked confused.

Because Marcus was right.

The recording had ended too perfectly.

Almost like something was still hidden.

The officers left.

The guests slowly began leaving too.

The wedding was over.

But the mystery wasn’t.

Darius looked at the USB.

At the broken files.

At the unfinished message.

And he knew there was one last truth waiting.
