At 9:00 AM on Wednesday, the marble corridors of the Foley Square Federal Courthouse were packed with reporters, television crews, and high-society observers.
Assistant District Attorney Julian Vance stood at the prosecutor's podium, looking slick, arrogant, and triumphant in a tailored navy suit. "Your Honor," Vance declared toward the bench, "the Vance Foundation is nothing more than a glorified money-laundering front for former Moretti crime assets! We demand the permanent seizure of all three hundred million dollars in their accounts!"
Sadi stood up smoothly from the defense table. She wore an elegant, tailored maternity suit in deep emerald green, her dark hair pulled back into a sleek, authoritative bun. Though her baby bump was prominent, her stance was unshakeable.
"Your Honor," Sadi’s rich, clear voice echoed off the courtroom's high plaster ceiling. "The prosecution’s entire petition relies on Exhibit C—a set of offshore ledger statements supposedly recovered from a Swiss bank in 2021."
"Those ledgers are certified, Counsel!" Vance interrupted smugly.
"They were certified by a shell auditor who was convicted of federal perjury forty-eight hours ago in Zurich," Sadi countered calmly, opening a leather binder. "And here is the forensic digital audit, conducted by independent federal monitors, proving the prosecutor’s office altered the timestamp on those files three weeks ago."
Gasps rippled through the gallery.
Vance’s face went completely pale. He turned sharply toward his legal team, sweating beneath his crisp collar. "That... that's impossible!"
From the front row of the gallery, Roman Moretti sat flanked by two top corporate defense attorneys, his arms crossed over his broad chest, a dark, victorious smirk playing on his lips. He raised his eyes to meet Vance’s panicked gaze, offering a slow, deliberate nod of pure dominance.
Judge Eleanor Vance—no relation to the prosecutor—slammed her wooden gavel down hard. "Mr. Vance, this court finds your evidence fraudulent! The freeze on the Vance Foundation accounts is lifted immediately, and your office is hereby ordered to pay full legal costs!"
The gallery erupted into applause. Sadi turned toward Roman, a brilliant, radiant smile illuminating her face as her husband stepped past the wooden bar to pull her securely into his arms.
