By 6:00 p.m., the top floor of Moretti Tower was surrounded by federal agents.

Four men in crisp dark suits and trench coats, led by Lead Prosecutor Marcus Sterling—a notorious, iron-fisted attorney who had built his career putting syndicate bosses behind bars—marched into Roman’s master suite.

"Roman Moretti," Sterling announced, slapping a thick manila folder onto the dark walnut desk. "This is a federal subpoena issued by the Southern District of New York. You are under investigation for corporate fraud, conspiracy, and the murder of Arthur Pendelton."

Julian Vance, who had returned to the office alongside three junior partners, immediately stepped forward, looking terrified.

"Prosecutor Sterling," Vance stammered, wiping sweat from his forehead. "My client maintains absolute innocence. We are prepared to negotiate a bail agreement—"

"Shut up, Julian," Roman said calmly from his leather chair.

Roman didn't look at Sterling. He looked at Sadi, who was standing beside his desk, quietly reading through the subpoena documents Sterling had just deposited.

"Sadi?" Roman asked softly. "What do you see?"

Prosecutor Sterling frowned, glaring at Sadi. "Who is this girl? Roman, where is your senior counsel?"

Sadi didn't look up from the paper. "This subpoena is invalid, Prosecutor Sterling."

Sterling let out a dry, condescending laugh. "Invalid? It was signed by Federal Judge Harrison twenty minutes ago."

"Judge Harrison’s jurisdiction covers the Eastern District, not the Southern District," Sadi stated flatly, finally looking up, her green eyes piercing into Sterling with absolute confidence. "Furthermore, the evidence cited in paragraph three references a recovered briefcase from the Brooklyn Navy Yard—which falls under NYPD jurisdiction, not the FBI. The chain of custody was broken the moment NYPD Detective Miller handed the file to your team without a federal warrant."

Sterling’s arrogant smile vanished instantly. His eyes narrowed. "Who the hell are you?"

"Sadi Vance," she lied smoothly, using her legal training to project unshakeable authority. "Special legal consultant to Moretti Enterprises. And if you attempt to execute this subpoena based on a broken chain of custody and an out-of-jurisdiction judge, I will file an immediate motion for prosecutorial misconduct before the State Bar Association by 8:00 a.m. tomorrow."

Julian Vance’s jaw dropped in absolute, horrifying shock. He looked at the former waitress as if she had suddenly transformed into a dragon.

Sterling stared at Sadi for five long seconds. He saw no fear in her eyes—only the cold, terrifying precision of a brilliant legal mind that had just disassembled his entire case in thirty seconds.

Sterling slowly picked up the subpoena from the desk.

"You have twenty-four hours to produce the original logistics ledgers, Mr. Moretti," Sterling growled, turning his glare back to Roman. "Or I come back with a grand jury indictment."

Sterling turned on his heel and marched out of the penthouse, his agents trailing behind him in tense silence.

When the doors clicked shut, Julian Vance slumped against the wall, breathless. "That... that was insane! She just threatened a federal prosecutor!"

Roman stood up from his desk. He walked past Vance without giving him a single glance, stopping inches in front of Sadi.

He reached out, his large, warm fingers gently cupping her chin, lifting her face to meet his dark, burning gaze.

"You are incredible," Roman whispered, his deep voice thick with a raw, undeniable admiration that made Sadi's pulse skip a beat.

"I just know civil procedure," Sadi murmured, her cheeks flushing slightly under his touch. "And Sterling was bluffing."

"Sterling hasn't been bluffed in ten years," Roman smiled softly. "You just saved my life a second time, Sadi."
