Four three-year-old girls sat barefoot around a dark breakfast table on Christmas Eve with nothing but one plate of moldy bread between them.

When Harper reached for a piece, Vanessa grabbed her wrist, tossed the bread back, and cruelly told Ethan's daughters that they should have followed their d*ad mother.

Only a hallway away, wealthy guests were celebrating beside tables overflowing with food.

Then Ethan unexpectedly returned after months overseas.

He froze when he saw his daughters' cracked lips, thin nightgowns, bare feet, and mold-covered dinner.

Vanessa immediately tried to turn the situation against him, accusing Ethan of buying presents instead of being a father.

Grant struck out when Ethan refused to back down.

Ethan stopped him.

Then Vanessa suddenly abandoned the confrontation and lunged toward an old tablet.

Ethan reached it first and inserted a red flash drive.

Claire appeared on the screen and told her daughters never to believe she had left because she was tired of them.

Vanessa's confidence collapsed.

Ethan demanded to know who had helped her starve his children and make their d*ad mother responsible for their suffering.

Grant instinctively looked toward the ballroom.

Why had Vanessa spent months teaching four little girls that their mother had abandoned them?

Why was Claire's recording so dangerous to her?

Who inside the Christmas party had helped control Ethan's daughters while he was overseas?

And why did Grant look toward the ballroom the moment Ethan asked who else was involved?

Because Vanessa had controlled the breakfast room.

But someone waiting among Ethan's own Christmas guests appeared to have controlled everything around it.

---

What did Vanessa do to those four little girls while Ethan was gone — and who in that ballroom helped her do it?
