At 2:00 PM, the atmosphere inside the Vance Logistics boardroom was charged with electric tension. Across the polished marble conference table sat my ex-husband, Ethan, and his arrogant uncle, Marcus—the man who had personally encouraged Ethan to bleed my accounts years ago.

Marcus looked disheveled beneath his expensive suit, his eyes red-rimmed with desperation. Ethan sat silently beside him, unable to look me directly in the eyes.

"You're making a mistake, Madeline," Marcus sneered, slamming his hands onto the table. "Apex holds fifteen percent of your debt obligations. If we call those notes in today, your expansion into Atlanta freezes immediately."

I didn't flinch. I took a slow sip of water, sitting at the head of the table in a tailored cream blazer. Julian stood right behind my right shoulder, an imposing, unshakeable presence.

"Marcus," I spoke, my voice smooth as silk. "You bought those debt notes at twenty cents on the dollar using a high-interest loan from an offshore firm in the Caymans. Did you really think my intelligence team wouldn't track the capital source?"

Marcus’s smirk faltered. Ethan shifted uncomfortably in his leather chair.

I gestured to Julian, who stepped forward and slid two sleek black tablets across the table toward them.

"Those tablets display an active tender offer from Vance Logistics," I explained calmly. "We have just bought the primary mortgage on your family’s remaining estate in South Carolina. The very estate you put up as collateral for your offshore loan. If you call in our debt notes, we execute a immediate foreclosure on your family home within twenty-four hours."

Ethan gasped, looking up in sheer terror. "Madeline, please! You can't take our house!"

"I am not taking it, Ethan," I replied, meeting his gaze with absolute coldness. "You gambled it away because you were too proud to let me live in peace. Sign the debt release forms, or pack your bags by sunrise."
