That autumn, Julian and I took our children to our villa in Tuscany for a month of quiet rest.

The rolling hills were painted in rich shades of gold, amber, and olive green. The air was cool, smelling of fresh grapes and burning wood from the villa’s brick ovens.

Late one evening, after Clara and baby Gabriel were fast asleep upstairs, Julian and I sat on the wide stone terrace, wrapped in a heavy wool blanket, sipping local Chianti wine under a canopy of bright, shimmering stars.

"Do you remember the night you evicted Ethan?" Julian asked quietly, his arm wrapped tightly around my shoulders.

I smiled, turning my head to look at him. "How could I forget? You were wearing that dark estate manager uniform, looking so serious and stern while you held the clipboard."

Julian laughed softly, kissing my hair. "I was terrified for you, Madeline. You were standing in the cold rain, holding your head high while those people shouted insults at you. I wanted to drag them off the property myself."

"You did something better, Julian," I murmured, resting my hand over his chest, feeling his steady, calm heartbeat. "You gave me your umbrella. You gave me a reason to believe that not all men were monsters."

"And you gave me my life, Madeline," he whispered, turning my face toward his and pressing his lips against mine in a long, tender, and passionate kiss.

When we pulled back, looking into each other's eyes, I knew that our love wasn't built on drama or corporate glory. It was built on respect, loyalty, and an unbreakable bond that had survived every storm.
