When I arrived at Luca’s corner office on the top floor of the tower, he was reviewing speech notes for the upcoming gala. When he saw the determination on my face and the heavy envelope in my hand, he immediately dismissed his assistants.

“Nia? What happened?” Luca asked, walking around his desk.

I laid the envelope on his desk and explained everything Evelyn had said.

As I spoke, I expected Luca’s face to darken with panic or stress. Four hundred million dollars in accelerated debt was a devastating blow, even for a billionaire empire. But to my complete shock, as Luca read through the legal demand, a slow, brilliant smirk spread across his face.

“Luca?” I asked, confused. “Did you hear what I said? Her father is trying to seize the hospital land!”

Luca looked up from the papers, his dark eyes dancing with sharp, razor-thin intellect.

“Nia,” Luca said smoothly, reaching out and gently taking my hands. “Do you remember what business magazines call me?”

“Ruthless. Brilliant. Visionary,” I recited automatically.

“They forgot to add 'unforgiving',” Luca replied softly.

He pulled me over to his computer screen and pulled up a private financial portal.

“Evelyn’s father, Arthur Shaw, thought he was being clever when he consolidated those debt notes six months ago,” Luca explained, pointing to a complex flow chart of corporate acquisitions. “What Arthur doesn't know is that three weeks ago—right after I discovered Eleanor’s fraud—I anticipated that the Shaw family would try to retaliate when I annulled my marriage to Evelyn.”

My eyes widened. “You predicted this?”

“I don't leave my family’s future to chance anymore, Nia,” Luca said, his voice ringing with absolute confidence. “I quietly partnered with Vanguard Holdings—the largest private equity firm in North America—and bought up eighty percent of Arthur Shaw’s own bank shares through offshore trusts.”

I stared at him in utter astonishment. “You bought his bank?”

“I own his bank’s controlling interest,” Luca corrected with a killer’s smile. “Arthur Shaw doesn't have the legal authority to accelerate my loan because as of 9:00 AM this morning, I am his bank’s majority board owner.”

I let out a breathless, disbelieving laugh. “Luca... that’s monstrously brilliant!”

“Evelyn thought she was walking into my office to trap me,” Luca said, pulling me closer by my waist. “Instead, she just handed me the exact legal leverage I need to force her father out of Chicago banking forever.”

He leaned down, pressing his lips to my forehead.

“Nobody threatens my family, Nia. Not my mother, not the Shaws, not anyone,” Luca whispered fiercely. “Tomorrow night, at the gala, we aren't just announcing our children to the world. We are going to show everyone that the Moretti family is unstoppable.”
