The trial lasted almost a year.

Richard Blackwood hired the most expensive lawyers in the city.

Victoria did the same.

They tried everything.

They claimed Anna was lying.

They accused Daniel of manipulating evidence.

They argued that the recordings had been taken out of context.

But evidence after evidence appeared.

Bank transfers.

Emails.

Security footage.

Witness statements.

And finally, the recording from the hotel.

Thomas eventually confessed.

He admitted causing the accident that killed Anna's father.

Richard had ordered him to destroy the evidence.

Victoria had later helped threaten Anna into silence.

The courtroom became silent when Anna testified.

She looked at the judge.

“My father spent his life protecting people who didn't deserve it.”

She took a breath.

“I don't want revenge.”

Richard looked at her.

“I want the truth.”

Victoria lowered her eyes.

Anna continued.

“I want my brother to grow up knowing that doing the right thing matters, even when doing the right thing is difficult.”

Daniel sat behind her.

His eyes filled with tears.

After months of testimony, the verdict finally came.

Richard was found guilty of conspiracy, fraud, obstruction of justice, and ordering the cover-up.

Thomas was convicted for his role in Anna's father's death and the financial scheme.

Victoria was convicted for fraud, intimidation, and assisting the cover-up.

Edward cooperated fully with prosecutors and accepted responsibility for his role.

He was sentenced for his crimes as well.

The courtroom erupted with emotion.

Anna closed her eyes.

For three years, she had imagined what justice would feel like.

She expected satisfaction.

Instead, she felt exhausted.

Daniel approached her outside.

“It's over.”

Anna shook her head.

“No.”

He looked confused.

“It isn't?”

Anna smiled faintly.

“Justice is done.”

She looked toward the courthouse.

“But healing takes longer.”

Daniel nodded.

“You're right.”

That evening, Anna returned home.

Lucas was waiting.

He ran toward her.

“Did they believe you?”

Anna hugged him.

“Yes.”

Lucas smiled.

“Dad can finally rest.”

Anna closed her eyes.

“Yes.”

For the first time since her father's death, she felt as though a heavy weight had been lifted from her heart.

But she knew the story wasn't finished.

There were lives to rebuild.
