By early autumn, the news of Sadi’s second pregnancy was celebrated across the city. The Vance Foundation had grown into one of the most respected philanthropic organizations on the East Coast, funding medical relief, legal defense, and educational scholarships for over ten thousand families annually.
To celebrate five years of the Foundation's impact, a grand charity gala was held at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.
Over eight hundred distinguished guests—judges, civic leaders, doctors, legal scholars, and community members—gathered beneath the grand glass dome of the museum, surrounded by fine art and classical violin music.
At the center of the main stage stood Sadi, looking impossibly beautiful in an off-the-shoulder midnight-blue gown that accentuated her graceful, seven-month pregnancy bump. Beside her stood Roman, tall, commanding, and impeccably handsome in a black tuxedo.
The presenter stepped up to the microphone, holding a heavy crystal plaque.
"Tonight," the presenter announced, "we honor a woman who transformed her own personal struggles into a beacon of hope for an entire city. A woman who proved that justice isn't bought with money, but built with courage, integrity, and love. The New York Civic Leadership Award goes to... Sadi Vance-Moretti!"
The audience rose to their feet in a thunderous, standing ovation that lasted for three full minutes!
Sadi accepted the heavy crystal award, looking out at the ocean of cheering faces. She took a step toward the microphone, her voice rich, warm, and deeply moving.
"Five years ago," Sadi spoke into the microphone, "I sat in a small booth at a greasy diner in Queens, holding a stack of unpaid bills, wondering if my voice mattered in a world governed by wealth and power."
She looked over at Roman, who stood beside the podium holding little Stella in his arms, his dark eyes filled with absolute, reverent devotion.
"I learned that power doesn't come from money, title, or fear," Sadi continued, tears of happiness sparkling in her eyes. "True power comes from standing up for those who cannot stand alone. It comes from building a life where love is your foundation, and justice is your legacy."
The applause erupted once more, echoing off the high stone walls of the museum.
